The best thing about this whole project for me was having other artists in my house, doing their own thing. Without having to schedule a date to the usual tune of “Let’s get together some time,” we were able to cross paths in my home and have spontaneous conversations about whatever was happening in the room or in our heads. After five minutes or a couple hours, the resident and I would retreat back to our respective endeavors. Often having someone in the tree room would make me more focused in my studio at the other end of the apartment and vice versa. Often we would share a meal but not always - no two residents were alike or had the same expectations.

Anyway, if you go into the room today, it looks pretty much exactly the same as it did before this all began, except the trees are bigger and a few new trees have sprouted from seeds of resident Christine Brault’s apple core. I am diversifying and increasing the population of my ‘woods’ and with each season of new residents I will start a fresh shoebox under the bed. Thanks to all who participated in this half-baked idea!
