

“...The concept of lineage takes on complex meanings in North America, where most people’s family histories involve displacement and disconnection at some point, and where it’s hard to claim a cultural tradition that has not been lost or disrupted in part. Canadian art history has been marked by the search for authenticity, as well as by the perceived need to journey away, either physically or intellectually, to recover a lineage that can only be found elsewhere.”
“The curatorial statement will explore issues such as the widespread global use of portable exhibition spaces as well as the quest for “authentic” European personal and artistic origins on the part of Canadian artists, and the phenomenon of reverse-pilgrimage that accompanies it.”

Michael McCormack (Halifax, Canada) was an official resident of This Neck of the Woods on April 10-24, 2006.
In the summer (2006) Micheal was presented among other artists in an installation at ramfoundation.
